Trick or treat

I said I’d try and that I wouldn’t promise anything.
Yeah, it’s been a pretty hectic month and the worst is just around the corner, as in a week I have my first college exams – and I’ve barely studied so far. Thus, expect little to no news from me during the next two weeks.
I also missed Halloween with all this work piling up. It’s not much of a tradition around here, but it’s as fun a holiday as April Fools, because you get to mess around with everything. I might have not got anything made in time, but today I was working on this little fella:

I bet you can’t recognize due to all the blood and, uh, exposed ribcages on the chest, but this little undead fella is actually… me!
I decided to skin a headcrab zombie to look like me, just for fun, and I came up with that. I personally think it’s pretty nice – even if it’s hard to recognize, it’s still a nice change from the usual white-clad zombies.

The skin’s hexed and ready, but I was trying to make a SNPC – that is, a working Garry’s Mod NPC. Still, I’ve been having trouble and had to ask for some help, so I’m not sure if this will ever be released.
Still, lemme tell ya… it’s pretty fun to blast my undead self’s headcrab off.

So, well, wish me luck for college. I’ll try to post news, but it’s not gonna be easy.

EDIT: I’m now thinking of doing Zombie Looshkin and Zombie Nemi (the original orange skin). I won’t do Delirium because his skin sucks is of a Rebel, not a citizen.

It’s been a month, eh? Sorry about that, really. I wanted to make this post earlier, but I didn’t have time.
I’m in college now. It’s been actually pretty fun, but also a wild ride – I have little to no free time; in fact, I barely have had time to study (and I’ve wasted that time anyway). And that’s why, instead of doing all the things I’ve promised, I’ve been absent.

I can’t promise that it’ll change anytime soon, but I’ll try to post some news, okay? Have fun, guys.

Like I said I would, I’m finishing up the blog’s new and revamped About page. It’s missing one profile and I’ll probably tweak it up eventually, but it’s good enough for you to take a look.

Back from the dead

It’s been one month since my last post – sorry about that. I’ve had a lot in my plate recently; in fact, for me, August was like a whole season of Lost in terms of twists, turns, sadness and despair.

But now, I’m back in action!

As you can see, I’ve finally started to change the blog up a bit. It’s got a new theme – Garland, which coincidentally is the same theme as PoB’s. Honestly, I didn’t even notice until I’d picked it; it felt oddly familiar, but I only realized it was PoB’s after comparing. Still, Michael doesn’t mind and he didn’t make the theme, so it’s not like it matters.
I’ve already done a quick reorganization of the categories, but it’s not really a job well done, so I might have to go back to that. Next up is the About page, which, for the past two-or-so years, has never actually been made.

Keep your eyes peeled, good changes are to come. I hope.

Unforeseen Consequences

Hey there. Yes, I know, still no changes to the blog – I’ve been busy. Yes, in fact, I am always busy.

Anyway, I took some time from my oh-so-busy schedule to indulge in a little experiment. Remember Control? For that comic, I had the idea of demonstrating Alyx’s point of view when the G-Man activates her ‘programming’.
Well, today, I was sitting here in my desk, busy as usual, and then I suddenly realized: why not remake Control in audio form?
I happen to have Audacity, a very neat audio editing tool, and GCFScape, a program that allows me to extract files from Source engine games, which is what I use to make skins and stuff like that. And some of those files are the audio files from the games, from voiceovers to sound, so… I had all the right tools.

A couple hours later, I ended up with this .wav file. It’s nothing too fancy, but it was a fun endeavor and, personally, I think it didn’t turn out so bad. So, if you’d like, take a look – or rather a listen – and download the file.

I would get a Space Upgrade for the blog if it wasn’t so expensive.

Ohai I’m back

Hey there! So, Madrid was pretty fun – better than I expected. It had lots of hookers, though – and no, I didn’t buy their “services”. I’ve got Tsu and that’s all I need.

Anyway, on actual content – today I bring you some goodies! First of all, earlier today I released an unfinished comic that I’d made back in December: a lightsaber duel between me and Looshkin, that I teased way back in January, which served as the basis for Delirium’s birthday comic. Like I promised, there will be updates to the blog – not as soon as tomorrow, though, because I’ll be busy, but I hope to get them working sometime soon.

A disturbance in the Force

I need to address two different topics in this post, and I’ll start with the interesting one: I released a comic dedicated to Delirium’s birthday, entitled “Battle of the Admins“. If you haven’t already, I’d be happy if you read it:

Second, I’d like to let you know that I’m going on vacations tomorrow, to Madrid. I’ll be staying there until Sunday, and then I come back home. I probably won’t be able to update Twitter much, but if I find opportunities, I’ll try to.
By the way, once I return, I’m going to focus on the big changes I’ve got planned for the blog. I already got some stuff prepared, but not nearly enough to update yet.

PoB collaboration over (for now)

Back in late 2007, I joined Phenomena On Break, the group that GrowingDelirium had been thinking of establishing. Ever since, we’ve been close friends and worked on countless ideas and projects, most of which he brought to life in a way only he can pull off.
Today, our official collaboration may be coming to a close.

As Delirium stated, all the previous Squad members – myself included – have lost our title, mostly due to his wish to reorganize PoB from scratch (and partly because I suggested him to). He proposes, however, that previous Squad members candidate to recover their status, justifying why their contribution is worth it.
Me? Well, I think this blog is enough proof that my contribution has no merits. I’ve been promising more content for almost two years, and I have little to show on that, besides my occasional enthusiasm and preview pictures of content that never comes to be. So, my opinion is that my role in PoB is over – let a new generation take over, or the previous go through strict selection to assure a higher degree of activity and quality.

This is, by no means, a proper end. I might still go back to the PoB team, and I will of course remain in the forums, but it just feels to me like this might be – apologies for the dramatism – the end of an era. I’ve shown my support for Phenomena On Break during this last year and half, and I think it’s time, not for me to move on from PoB, but for PoB to move on from me.

ENDGAME, however, will still be a PoB production if released – and yes, similarly to the not-yet-defunct Duke Nukem Forever game, it still somehow has a heartbeat, in spite of being over a year in production. Summer started a week ago for me, and when the urge to produce comics comes (and I feel it’s close), then I’ll try to finally give the McDonald’s/PoB War an end – whether it’s a fitting one, I’ll leave that to readers to decide.

So, what good will actually come from this? Well, for starters, I’m yet again toying with ideas on how to revitalize this blog of mine, and now I can focus my ideas on it instead of giving them over to PoB instead.
