Holy New Year’s Eve surprise, Batman!

Sorry for not updating for so long, but I have news!

Kaido is the best, fuck the rest.Kaido, a friend of mine and member of PHW, gave me Garry’s Mod 10!
You’re the best, mate! ;)

Besides that, I’d also like to wish you all a good New Year’s Eve, and the best possible year in 2008.
Have a nice night, and see you in the new year! :D

Just an aside,

Merry Christmas, and thanks for reading my blog. :D

I’m going to be off during this next couple of days. PHW is quite interesting right now, so I’ll be looking forward to see how it went later.

Srs Business?

I honestly don’t know if it’s my bad mood or if it’s recurring, but I’m tired of how people take GMod comics so seriously.

I mean, I realized it one day after I posted the Christmas special message – and oh boy, have I been doing it too. I’m always feeling like I should obey a schedule and all this crap about “bad comics” is affecting my own sense of humor.
I’ve been doing a comic series, and two of its episodes were scrapped because I didn’t think it was funny enough for them, and because one reader in particular didn’t feel it was funny enough. Now I realize my mistake.

Is it just me, or are people starting to take this a little too seriously? PHWComics started as a website in which Michael posted his comics, and then some guys joined him and started doing comics too, and that was great.
At a certain point, people got too over their heads. Clover wanted to stop doing comics, but he didn’t because the readers kept asking for more. What’s up with that?! Didn’t he have the right to move on? I finally understand why he’s left.

You know, Popwar has said it a lot of times, but only now do I get it well. There’s this whole lot of threads on Dear Diary about how the “old PHW” was so much better, and what’s wrong with the new comics, and how they wish the good stuff was back and that everyone sucks these days.
This was what started to influence me on the first place, and yet at the same time started to annoy me. It’s an Internet community, Goddamnit – if you want to do something epic, do it, but don’t get over yourself. Some days ago I met Cmdr.Death, the creator of the fabulous The Third Reborn, and I found out he was quite a great person and extremely modest for his skills. He even told me that the comic would have taken a lot less time to do if he had dedicated his entire free time to it, but he didn’t and as such it took longer.
You see, this is a normal person. It’s the best comic ever in terms of aspect and he put a lot of dedication onto it, but he didn’t go obsessed over it. He knew it was just a comic and even so he made something fantastic – and, better yet, he didn’t care about schedules, which was my mistake in the first place. In a five-minute talk he earned my full respect, something that many members have been losing from me.
The quote that best demonstrates my point is Jim_Riley’s, a member that has actually been away for quite a while but still reveals the same mentality:

Take it like a man Mythos! Don’t delete the thread.

I’m sorry, what?! Take it like a “man”? Are we talking about the same thing here? I’m talking about a comic I did in five minutes and which I didn’t really care about nor planned to release – maybe Jim_Riley was talking about some high school fight? Wait a moment, I’ll get my baseball bat!
Now, let me just make it clear that I don’t have anything against Jim_Riley personally – but this habit of giving comics too much importance has been spreading and it’s quite problematic to me. When you add the fact that everyone is being criticized for making bad comics, which started off as an interesting discussion but soon evolved into some sort of reunion for dejá vus and heavy criticism, you can see why I’m so annoyed with this.

People, understand this – we’re talking about comics. You want to make PHW as good as it was? Then stop the fucking nonsense and Internet meme crap and be friendly! PHW started as a small group who did comics for fun – giving comics too much importance was what brought it down – remember the ACMs?
I thought we had settled that being elitist and giving too much importance to comics was one of the things that brought PHW down, but apparently we didn’t.

Oh, and, Girl Next Door isn’t finished. I was planning to finish it to be a sort of Christmas gift, not only to Isolatedpurity but also to the community, but I won’t and I seriously don’t care. I don’t think the community even deserves a gift at all, right now.
I’m done with schedules. It’s done when it’s done.

What I want this Christmas

I’m definitely getting a €599 HDTV, which is fantastic, but there’s stuff that I wish I could get or at least buy. Most I will probably have to leave for later, but I might be able to buy some stuff.

Super Mario Galaxy.
Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)

I got Metroid, which I still haven’t finished, and some time ago Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, which was better than I expected and really addicted me. There are only two more games I’d currently like to have – Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Since Brawl is not coming anytime soon, I’d be happy with this masterpiece.

Phantom Hourglass
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Nintendo DS)

Now here’s a game I’m sad I missed at its release. Right then I had to choose between it and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, which had just arrived in Europe, so I left it for later and eventually forgot. Now I remember it, but I’m currently broke and have to make decisions, so I probably won’t be buying it.
Still, I’ve seen two different versions being sold – with different covers -, so I guess there must be some kind of special edition and it’s still on sale, which I guess means I can wait.

Heroes Season One DVD.
Heroes Season 1 (DVD)

I must admit that I didn’t watch much of the first season – I catched the last four or five episodes, and unfortunately I was so troubled by a personal trouble then that I didn’t even pay attention to the season finale. But the show seems to be interesting, and it’s a big hit – at least, the first season was -, so I guess this is something that I’d enjoy, although I can live without it.

Lost Season 1 DVDLost Season 3 DVD
Lost Seasons 1 and 3 (DVD)

If there’s one current television series that I simply love, it has to be Lost. Great characters, all very well developed through flashbacks and island events, a rich, mysterious background that keeps surprising us, and fabulous plot developments and twists.
I already own the second season DVD – I was going to acquire the first, but it had just arrived and I love “Henry Gale” (now better known as Ben Linus), so I opted for it.
I doubt that I might be getting my hands on both DVDs so soon, so I guess I’d select the first season to begin with – I barely remember it, and the third season is still being aired on Portuguese TV (although, oddly, the DVD’s already for sale), so it’d be a good choice.

I was thinking right now if I wish I could get anything else. It occured to me that I thought about getting the first two Bourne movies on DVD and complete my Pirates of the Caribbean DVD collection with the mind-blowing third installment, but I guess I don’t want them as much as these other things.
They may seem like few things, but remember that I’m not talking about cheap stuff here. Just the two videogames are over €40 each, and the DVDs round that prices too, if not higher. There’s no way I’m getting that much money from my family, so I guess it’s either Mario Galaxy, a Lost DVD, or maybe both.
Oh, and in case you don’t remember, I don’t have a job. My priority has been school and it will stay that way, so I have to rely on my parents to help me financially – I get €20 each month, which is not much but serves me well enough, and currently I’m broke after buying Resident Evil.

Thanks for accompanying me on this enlightening journey on the world of consumerism!

This – is – CHRISTMAS!

This shouldn’t have been released. Ah well, the wrong’s done now.

I like to break promises, it makes me happy

You can only delay the inevitable.

Here’s the deal.
I don’t know what the hell I was thinking when I promised It’s an Odd Job 2 would be released, or at least its first part, in this Christmas. We’re six day from the 25th, and the plot isn’t fully written yet, there are no poses whatsoever – that image is just a promo -, and I’m still testing editing ideas. Basically, it’s still deep in preproduction.
I shouldn’t have said it would be released so soon – I didn’t even do it that long, just last week, and then I should’ve known that I couldn’t finish it. I mean, damn, I have a life, and I want to do more comics than just It’s an Odd Job 2!
So, don’t expect it so soon. I’ll be working on it, but it won’t be released as soon as January – probably only during February. But I’ll be working on it – and trying my best. I want this to be something good, not something done in a hurry.

Also, Girl Next Door is coming nicely. Of course it won’t be Isolatedpurity’s birthday comic, but the dedication will still be there – I have no reason to take it back.
And I plan on doing Christmas and New Year’s Eve comics, too. Besides, that series I mentioned… I already made four episodes, two of which have been scrapped. The other two seem good, but I need to do some more before releasing anything.

If you were looking forward to Odd Job 2, I’m sorry. You’ll still have it, though.
I’m only delaying the inevitable.

Dragon Ball… the movie?

Apparently, the long-running rumors (I remember hearing them in 2001!) have finally become true.
Holy crap.

Not “Holy crap” as in “Awesome, can’t wait”, especially because I’m not ten-years-old anymore. It’s more “Holy crap” as in “Holy fail”.
Why?

That's... Goku? Ridiculous!

Do you know who that character is?
Son Goku.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but from what I remember, Son Goku had large, spiky hair and wore that orange uniform of his. That guy’s hair is too short for the character and he’s only wearing an orange T-shirt – let’s hope that’s just the actor’s clothing and he’s not in-character, otherwise the movie will be just ridiculous. Besides, where are the muscles?

Oh, about the car, it seems that it’s gonna be set in a futuristic environment. At least that’s faithful to the original series:
The fans are gonna kill these guys.

PS: There are rumors that the new James Bond film will be named “007″.
Yes, simply 007. Yeah, I know.

Ho-ho-holy crap.

500 posts. FIVE HUNDRED FRICKIN’ POSTS!
I’ve beat ‘06ers to it in four months!

The bad thing is, people are already starting to joke about me having to “get a life”.
Truth is, I’ve been trying to distract myself with PHW ’till these vacations. Now they’re finally here! :D
Another bad thing: I have to finish two comic projects. For instance, the first part of Odd Job 2.

I’m doomed.

The world for soldiers!

This is the liberty we’ve won for ourselves – Outer Haven!

This is a thing Combine_dumb from PHW found – you create your city, and as people visit it, your population increases. And when you have enough people, I guess you can construct something. Fun, no?
Give it a try here – and please, do visit my Haven! :)

Title Confirmation

Some of you have guessed it, and I didn’t plan on making it any hard. But still, here’s your, erm, “official” confirmation.

Yes, it is the sequel to my, uhm, second least read comic. Not that I’m complaining – after all, 600+ views is a great number.
If you’re wondering why I’m doing a sequel to a comic I know wasn’t so popular, I can explain – because I want to. Near the very end of the original’s production, I had a fantastic idea that would make the comic a lot better. It was hard to implement, as the comic was already done, so I decided to start planning a sequel right when I released the first.
Now, the first one relied most on destruction and visual jokes than clever humor, but this will be different. As you can see by the teaser poster and selection of colors, it will be quite a jump from the original’s premise.
To be completely honest, the comic is still only in preproduction, even if in an advanced state. The plot has mostly been thought of, thought it’s not the most important part of this comic, and the setting and characters are already defined. I’ve already downloaded some maps for the comic, and I’ll be looking through high-resolution weapon models soon to select some of the antagonists’ weapons. You can expect a comic with a style and atmosphere of its own, with interesting characters and an enigmatic plot – not the same “booms” and “crushes” that composed the original.
Oh, also, the title logo’s not definitely final, although I quite like its look. It was the first thing I did for the comic and I like it a lot. :)

The Comic List page has been updated to include things about both I’ts an Odd Job 2 and The Girl Next Door – check it out.
